Rancid oil and rancid oil preparations are harmful to psoriatic skin and are known to cause irritation, scaling, itching and inflammation, also they increase the risk of cancer.
Acid value is an indicator of oil rancidity. If the drug for psoriasis has a high acid value it negatively impacts psoriasis treatment resulting in aggravation of symptoms and elicit flare-ups of symptoms during remission phase
